they forge the pen
used by the sage
there lives ten
on every page
in every script
of poetic line
where ink has been tipped
gain st parchment fine

where quill has arced
and minstrel sang
where lark has larked
and lovers ang
where veil is shed
where tear is wept
where vein has bled
where heart has leapt
dragons
they ve ruled
for eons
i am told

that said
you ll find it writ
in boldest stone
in blood and spit
in flesh and bone
the bard is dealt
a mundane death
who hasn't felt
a dragon s breath
